  14.           To print this file, place disk #1 in appropriate drive;
  15.           COPY DRIVE:README.SHR LPT1.  Replace DRIVE with A or B and
  16.           replace LPT1 with your printer port (LPT1, LPT2, COM1, COM2).

  18.           Introduction:
  19.  
  20.           SASI's MarketEdge is a trend analysis market timing software
  21.           program.  It can be used for individual stocks and Indexes, but
  22.           the primary function of MarketEdge is to analyze the overall
  23.           market and determine major trend changes.
  24.  
  25.           MarketEdge uses technical data from the NYSE to generate the
  26.           Technical Index which is a Master Market Breadth Index.  The
  27.           technical data required is Advances, Declines, Unchanged issues,
  28.           Up Volume, Down Volume, Total Volume, New Highs, New Lows, Date,
  29.           and DJIA (Dow Jones Industrial Avg.).  Daily data is recommended
  30.           but weekly can be used.

  32.           The software generates and plots the following indicators:
  33.  
  34.                Advance-Decline Line, Bollinger Bands, Dow, McClellan
  35.                Oscillator, RSI, SASITOP, SASI Oscillator, Sigma Limits,
  36.                Stochastics, and Technical Index.
  37.  
  38.           The graphs are updated and viewed to determine the market trend
  39.           status.  In the F1 HELP menu, a table summarizes the signals
  40.           under the ENTRY AND EXIT SIGNALS section.  Analysis sensitivity
  41.           can be varied from short term trading to long term investing.
  42.           Use the HELP menu (F1 Key) and the manual on disk to get started.

  44.           I. Installation
  45.              (for files down loaded from BBS's, just make a directory SASI
  46.              and explode all self extracting files there.  Then type
  47.              RUN MES1 to run the program.)
  48.  
  49.                A. INSTALL Program
  50.  
  51.           The INSTALL program automatically  makes a directory c:\SASI  and
  52.           copies all the files to this directory.
  53.  
  54.           Place the INSTALL disk #1 in the appropriate drive.  From your
  55.           DOS prompt, type A:INSTALL or B:INSTALLB, whichever is
  56.           appropriate.  If there are any problems with installation, just
  57.           manually make a directory and copy the files from the disk.

  59.           i.e. CD\---to get to root.
  60.                MD SASI---makes a directory "SASI" under root.
  61.                CD SASI---go to SASI directory.
  62.                Place disk to copy in appropriate drive.
  63.                Copy A:*.*, or Copy B:*.* whichever is appropriate.

  67.           II. To run MarketEdge.

  69.           From the SASI directory, type RUN MES1

  71.           III. Reading Manual
  72.  
  73.           The Manual is provided on disk as a file.  To read use the TYPE
  74.           command. i.e. TYPE MANUAL.SHR | MORE.  Even better use a text
  75.           editor like EDIT in DOS Ver 5.0.

  77.           IV. Printing the manual.
  78.  
  79.           Use the COPY command to print the entire manual which is 71
  80.           pages.  i.e.  COPY C:\SASI\MANUAL.SHR LPT1.  Replace LPT1 with
  81.           your printer port (LPT1, LPT2, COM1, COM2).  You can also use a
  82.           text editor like EDIT in DOS Ver 5.0 which allows you to print
  83.           selected sections.

  85.           V. Installation/running problems
  86.  
  87.           Most initial loading problems are related to memory, conflicts
  88.           with other programs or the video system.  If you have initial
  89.           loading problems, disable the AUTOEXEC.BAT FILE OR THE PROGRAMS
  90.           IT CALLS.  Refer to chapter 2 in manual for more information or
  91.           call SASI Software Technical Support.
  92.  
  93.           A basic 640K DOS system with hard disk and graphics capability is
  94.           all that is required.  A 286 10 MHz or better CPU with math
  95.           coprocessor is recommend.  MarketEdge uses expanded memory.  If
  96.           memory is limited it will use the hard disk as virtual memory.
  97.           The graphs on CGA displays will look terrible.  An EGA or VGA
  98.           display is recommended.

  100.           If the program locks up during loading, and disabling
  101.           AUTOEXEC.BAT does not solve the problem, then the problem may be
  102.           a conflict with the video system.  Read your documentation on how
  103.           to exclude memory addresses.
  104.  
  105.           For a 386 computer with DOS 5.0, and 4 Megs of RAM memory, add or
  106.           modify these lines in your config.sys file using the DOS editor
  107.           EDIT: (I am assuming no other memory manager is being used. If
  108.           another memory manager is being used, consult its documentation.)

  110.           1. files=30   (The number of files that can be open.)
  111.           2. buffers=30   (The number of buffers that can be open.)
  112.           3. device=PATH\himem.sys   (Extended memory manager.)
  113.           4. device=PATH\emm386.exe 2048 ram frame=E000 X=C000-D3FF
  114.                (line 4 set 2 Megs as expanded memory, sets upper memory
  115.                 management, sets the page frame starting address, and
  116.                 excludes a memory range that the video normally uses.)

  118.           Replace PATH with the directory where himem.sys and emm386.exe
  119.           are located. i.e. device=c:\dos\himem.sys.
